Chubb falls as pricing commentary overshadows Q2 profit beat
BUZZ-Chubb falls as pricing commentary overshadows Q2 profit beat ** Insurance giant Chubb's CB.BN shares fall 4% to $340.08
** CB CEO Evan Greenberg told analysts substantial majority of its businesses were growing, with the balance flat or purposely shrinking due to inadequate pricing or terms
** "Soft market conditions have begun to spread beyond property to more casualty lines. Pricing in numerous areas of casualty are failing to keep pace with loss costs, which are hardly benign," Greenberg said
** The comments overshadowed CB's strong Q2 results
** "We think CB is more exposed to the softening market than some other insurers in our coverage. Its warnings about casualty also suggest that wherever the market is turning in casualty, Chubb's business is likely exposed to some amount," Piper Sandler analysts said
** Up to last close, CB up 13.7% YTD
