Contango Holdings Plc / Index: LSE / Epic: CGO / Sector: Natural Resources
29 September 2022
Contango Holdings Plc
('Contango' or the 'Company')
2022 Excellence in Community, Empowerment & Social Impact Award
Contango Holdings Plc ("Contango"), the London listed natural resource company
developing the Lubu Coking Coal Project in Zimbabwe ("Lubu Project") is
delighted to advise that its subsidiary Monaf Investments ("Monaf"), the
operating company for the Lubu Project, has been declared the winner of the
2022 Excellence in Community, Empowerment & Social Impact Award.
Monaf was selected as winner by Corporate Social Responsibility Network
Zimbabwe (CSRNZ), together with the Minister of Provincial Affairs and
Devolution for Matabeleland North Province, with Monaf's efforts in supporting
issues of sustainability in the Province of Matabeleland North receiving
specific commendation, along with the positive impact Monaf is playing in
developing and promoting the Government's Vision 2030 and Sustainable
Development Goals.
Carl Esprey, CEO of Contango, commented:
"On behalf of Monaf Investments, I would like to publicly thank CSRNZ, the
Minister for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland North Province
for this award. The fact that this support is drawn from the central
government, rural council and village chiefs combined is truly a great honour
for Monaf and acknowledges the hard work being done for the community and
environment as part of the development of Lubu.
"This unilateral support is heartening and comes at a time when we are nearing
first sales of coking coal this year at Lubu under our offtake agreement with
AtoZ. We will continue to work diligently at Contango and its subsidiaries to
ensure all operations are undertaken with the strictest ESG principles for the
betterment of the region and Zimbabwe.
"I look forward to updating the market next quarter, in what we expect to be a
hallmark period for the Company."
