TOKYO, Dec 25 (Reuters) - - Japan's Cosmo Oil, a unit of Cosmo Energy Holdings 5021.T, restarted the 100,000 barrels-per-day crude distillation unit at its Sakai refinery in western Japan on December 3 following an unplanned shutdown caused by a glitch, a company spokesperson said.
The unit had been offline since November 20, he said without giving details of the trouble. The CDU had previously undergone a scheduled maintenance from August 27 to October 5, he said.
Separately, larger rival Idemitsu Kosan 5019.T restarted the 165,000-bpd CDU at its Aichi refinery in central Japan on November 30 after completing a planned turnaround that began on September 16, a company spokesperson said.
