** Brent crude LCOc1 up 3.8% at $112.78 per barrel and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures CLc1 up 2.7% at $98.32 per barrel

** Crude prices rise as Iraq declares force majeure on foreign-operated oilfields over Strait of Hormuz disruption

** Energy majors Exxon Mobil XOM.N and Chevron CVX.N gain 2% and ~1%, respectively

** APA Corp APA.O, ONEOK OKE.N, Occidental Petroleum OXY.N, and Exxon Mobil XOM.N gain between 1.9% and 2.6% — among the top percentage gainers on the energy index

** Diamondback Energy FANG.O gains 1.3%, while Occidental Petroleum OXY.N rises 2.2%
