POLITICS
U.S. President Joe Biden met Italian Prime Minister Giorgia
Meloni at the White House on Thursday, with the Ukraine war,
trade and Italy's relations with China featuring atop their
agenda.
Italy said on Thursday it planned to use EU money to fund an
investment programme worth around 19 billion euros ($21 billion)
to strengthen power and gas grids and make its economy greener.
The move is part of efforts by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni
to present a revamped and revised post-COVID recovery plan to
European Union authorities next month.
ECONOMY
ISTAT releases June producer prices data (0800 GMT) and May
industry sales data (0900 GMT).
Italy plans a spending programme worth 19 billion euros
($20.90 billion) under Brussels' REPowerEU scheme, a document
released by the government showed on Thursday.

The tyremaker nudged down its estimates for full year sales
on Thursday to reflect forecasts for a weaker market, despite
improving results in the second quarter which were supported by
strong pricing power.
PRYSMIAN PRY.MI
Italy's Prysmian PRY.MI , the world's largest cable maker,
on Thursday flagged that M&A deals might be possible after
raising its 2023 guidance for adjusted core profit and cash
flows on the back of solid half-year results.

The board of the Italian energy company approved the first
tranche of 2023 dividend of 0.24 euros per share.

The Italian bank said on Thursday it would buy back its own
shares for around 200 million euros ($223 million) in the new

Italian payment firms, banks and retailers' associations
have clinched a deal to reduce the cost of electronic
transactions worth up to 30 euros, parties said on Thursday.
While the accord does not alter significantly the current
situation, it allows the government to drop the threat of a
windfall tax on commissions from small electronic transactions
Rome had pledged to impose in the absence of a deal.

Italian shoemaker on Thursday cut its 2023 sales guidance
after revenues grew only slowly in the first half of the year

LUXURY
French luxury group Kering PRTP.PA , which is struggling to
revive sales at its star brand Gucci, said on Thursday it was
buying a 30% stake in Italian fashion label Valentino from
Qatari investment fund Mayhoola for 1.7 billion euros in cash.
