GDANSK, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Polish retailer Dino Polska DNP.WA on Thursday reported third-quarter net profit of 481.9 million zlotys ($132.5 million), rising 10% year on year, but missing a forecast of 506 million zlotys seen in a Reuters poll.
The performance was helped by the company continuing to open more stores.
WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
Dino is one of Poland's largest and fastest-growing supermarket chains. Its growth strategy is focused on opening hundreds of stores annually, primarily in smaller towns and on the outskirts of large cities.
CONTEXT
Dino's results come against a backdrop of strong consumer spending in Poland, which has been supported by rising wages and slowing inflation. The results follow a strong quarter for rival Biedronka, whose owner Jeronimo Martins JMT.LS said a minimum wage hike in Poland had boosted incomes but that competitive intensity remains high.
BY THE NUMBERS
Dino's revenue for the quarter was 8.76 billion zlotys, compared with 8.94 billion seen in Reuters poll. Like-for-like sales growth was 4.4%. The company opened 245 stores in the first nine months of 2025, and as of 30 September had a total of 2,933 stores in its network.
