    POLITICS
    The government still estimates a single-digit decline in
gross domestic product in 2020, Deputy Economy Minister Antonio
Misiani said in an interview with daily Corriere della Sera,
adding they expect a strong rebound in growth in the third
quarter.
    
    ECONOMY
    ISTAT releases Q2 GDP final data (0800 GMT); August flash
CPI and HICP data (0900 GMT).
    
    COMPANIES
    TELECOM ITALIA  TLIT.MI 
    Telecom Italia (TIM) TLIT.MI is set to sign off on a
landmark deal with U.S. fund KKR  KKR.N  on Monday that could
lay the groundwork for plans to create a single ultrafast
broadband network promoted by the Italian government.

    Vodafone, Comcast unit SKY and WindTre said on Friday it was
crucial that any single broadband network company in Italy be

    The chairman of broadband network operator Open Fiber,
Franco Bassanini, said in an interview with daily La Stampa on
Sunday that the governance of the new broadband network company
should be independent and neutral, with a key role for state
lender Cassa depositi e prestiti (CDP).

    The Italian asset manager wants to play a leading role in
the consolidation process expected in the banking industry, CEO
Alessandro Melzi d'Eril said in an interview with la Repubblica
daily on Sunday.
    
    MEDIOBANCA  MDBI.MI 
    Eyewear tycoon Leonardo Del Vecchio plans to increase his
stake in Mediobanca only slightly in the short term to just
above 10%, after being given European Central Bank approval to

    FINCANTIERI  FCT.MI 
    Economy Minister Roberto Gualtieri on Friday signed off on a
guarantee by state export credit agency Sace covering 70% of a
1.15 billion euro loan granted to shipmaker Fincantieri by a
pool of Italian banks, the ministry said.
    The guarantee is part of a package of government measures to
support companies whose business has been hit by the coronavirus
emergency.
