    ECONOMY
    Italy budget watchdog UPB said on Wednesday it saw the euro
zone third-largest economy growing by 1% this year and 1.1% the
next while pointing at downside risks.

    Italy's No. 4 bank on Wednesday forecast a full-year net
profit net of extraordinary items of around 1.1 billion euros
($1.2 billion), after its second quarter profit strongly beat
expectations.
    
    BANCO BPM  BAMI.MI  
    The Italian bank on Wednesday joined bigger peers in lifting
its 2023 net profit goal - the third such upgrade in as many
consecutive quarters - as the sector reaps the benefits of
higher interest rates.
    
    SAFILO  SFLG.MI  
    The Italian eyewear group posted a 6.6% fall in
second-quarter net sales at constant exchange rates, due to
weakness in the North American market along with a drop in the
former Grand Vision chains in Europe, group said on Wednesday.
    
    ENERGY
    Italy's regulated household gas prices fell 2.1% in July
compared with the previous month, the country's energy authority
ARERA said in a statement on Wednesday.
