Italy - Factors to watch on Aug. 6

The following factors could affect Italian markets on Tuesday.

    ECONOMY
    OECD releases July composite leading indicator data (1000).
    
    DEBT
    Treasury announces sale of 12-month BOT bills, with relative
amounts to be auctioned on Aug. 9.

    Milan Stock Exchange After Hours market closed.
    
    (*) BANCA MONTE PASCHI  BMPS.MI 
    The State-owned Italian bank raised its profit outlook on
Tuesday after posting much higher-than-expected second quarter
earnings.
    Monte dei Paschi (MPS), which Italy saved from collapse in
2017, said it expected its pre-tax profit to total 1.4 billion
euros ($1.5 billion) in 2026. That is up from a 909 million euro
target under a strategy through 2026 it presented two years ago.
    Conference call at 0700 GMT.

    The Italian oilfield service company is about to secure two
new contracts from Saudi Arabian oil major Saudi Aramco
 2223.SE  worth 1 billion dollars, il Sole 24 Ore newspaper said
on Tuesday. The contracts concern the offshore fields of Marjan
and Zuluf, Il Sole said.

    The Italian oil refiner said on Monday that the global
commodity trader Vitol had crossed the threshold of 50% of its
share capital after launching a mandatory offer for the company.
    
    (*) ENAV  ENAV.MI 
    The Italian air traffic controller is considering M&A
operations in air traffic management (ATM) and cybersecurity,
CEO Pasqualino Monti said in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore
daily on Tuesday. 
    The company has an M&A budget of up to 250 million euros to
be financed through debt not using cash reserves, the manager
added.
     
    BANCO BPM  BAMI.MI , NEXI  NEXII.MI 
    (*) The board of the Italian bank, which is due to approve
its H1 results on Tuesday, will give its green light to the
creation of Numia, a new digital payment company, after the deal
won the approval of The Bank of Italy and market regulator
Consob, daily Il Messaggero said.
    BPM and fellow lender Bcc Banca will each hold 28.5% of the
new company, while investment firm Fondo Strategico Italiano
will hold 43%, the newspaper reported.  
    BPM conference call on H1 results at 1600 GMT.
    
    BANCA POPOLARE DI SONDRIO  BPSI.MI 
        Releases H1 results, conference call at 1400 GMT.
    
    DIARY
        Rome, Energy Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and
Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida hold news conference
to announce the appointment of the 'Extraordinary Commissioner
for the Blue Crab Emergency' (0930 GMT).
  
        Rome, Industry Ministry holds plenary meeting on
fashion, chaired by Industry Minister Adolfo Urso (0945 GMT);
followed by meeting on 'La Perla' company (1100 GMT); and
meeting on Milan Stock Exchange (1500 GMT).
  
    Rome, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani will hold a
parliamentary hearing on the political situation in the Middle
East and Venezuela (1230 GMT).
