POLITICS
Giorgia Meloni was sworn in as Italy's first woman prime
minister on Saturday alongside her cabinet team, giving the
country its most right-wing government since World War Two.
French President Emmanuel Macron and new Italian Prime
Minister Giorgia Meloni held talks in Rome on Sunday in the
first, though informal, meeting between the two political
leaders.
Giancarlo Giorgetti, Italy's new economy minister, is a
veteran political wheeler-dealer viewed as a moderate and
relatively pro-European member of his right-wing League party.
Meloni will have to tackle a raft of pressing problems as
soon as her government takes office.
In 2019, Giorgia Meloni made a speech that has come to
define her: "I am a woman, I am a mother, I am Italian, I am a
Christian, and you can't take that away from me," she told
cheering supporters in Rome.

DEBT
Italy's Treasury said on Friday it would sell up to 4
billion euros in BTP short-term and inflation-linked BTP bonds
on Oct. 26.
Treasury announces sale of 6-month BOT bills, with relative
amounts to be auctioned on Oct. 27.
COMPANIES
BPER BANCA EMII.MI
Malacalza Investimenti, the former top investor in BPER
Banca's Carige unit, is seeking 539 million euros in damages for
the capital increase approved in Sept. 2019, following a
European court ruling that voided the ECB's decision to place
Carige under special administration in Jan. 2019, BPER said on
Friday adding it deemed the move unfounded.
MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA (MPS) BMPS.MI
Chief Executive Luigi Lovaglio holds a first meeting with
unions on Monday to discuss how to proceed in relation to 4,125
requests of early exits put forward by MPS' employees, a larger
number than the 3,500 layoffs envisaged under the business plan.
Shares in MPS on Friday closed down 0.95% at 1.99 euros,
below the price of 2 euros at share at which the bank is
offering new stock to raise up to 2.5 billion euros in capital.

BANCA FINNAT EURAMERICA BFE.MI
Vehicle P.N. 1898 Srl of Nattino Holding starts mandatory
full takeover bid on Banca Finnat Euramerica shares; ends on

Rome, Sant'Egidio continues inter-religious meeting "The Cry
of Peace"; ends on Oct. 25.
