Adds statements from PGE, Tauron utilities from 3rd paragraph
GDANSK, Dec 17 (Reuters) - The average electricity price in Poland’s approved tariffs will be 495 zlotys ($137.93) per megawatt-hour (MWh) net from January 1, 2026, the head of energy regulator URE, Renata Mroczek, said on Wednesday.
Distribution fees for households will increase by 7.6% from the new year.
Poland's top utility PGE said that the decision could result in a potential loss in its trading segment of approximately 560 million zloty as there was a risk of a higher electricity balancing cost than that assumed by the regulator.
Utility Tauron said it would create a provision of 160 million zloty in the fourth quarter of 2025.
