Energean CEO says UK assets, including tax losses, better with other owner
Energean CEO says UK assets, including tax losses, better with other owner LONDON, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Energean's ENOG.L British assets are better in the hands of another owner, CEO Mathios Rigas said on Wednesday.
The stakes in ageing UK North Sea fields yielding tiny production of around 1,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day carry so-called tax losses of £715 million ($968 million), Energean said in a presentation, which any other owner with larger production in the basin can use to cut their tax bill.
BP BP.L is seeking a buyer for its UK North Sea portfolio, and in this context parties interested in such tax losses are likely to emerge, Rigas added in an interview with Reuters.
