CEO of Italian grid operator Terna to depart in early May for Eni role (updated)

Adds additional details and background from paragraph 2 onwards

April 25 (Reuters) - Italian grid operator Terna TRN.MI said on Saturday that CEO Giuseppina Di Foggia, who is departing to become chair of the board of energy group Eni ENI.MI, will leave the company on May 5.

Terna also said that Di Foggia has agreed to waive the additional severance grants due for her position as General Manager, adding that she will be granted an end-of-mandate indemnity of 108,750 euros ($127,422.38) for her role as CEO.

Di Foggia had come under pressure from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to renounce the payout at a time when the government is struggling to find ways to help families and firms cope with higher energy prices.

In a separate statement last week, Terna said Di Foggia had "expressed her willingness to sign an agreement to give up her severance pay," adding that it would provide further details in due course "in full respect of the principles of corporate governance."
