ECONOMY
Italy will extend "to the first week of June" from May 22 a cut in excise duties on fuels, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said on Thursday, as part of government efforts to help families and firms cope with high energy costs.
It was not fully clear if he meant until the start of the first week of June or until the end of it.
Speaking at a conference in northern Italy, Giorgetti also said he was optimistic about talks with the European Commission aimed at securing more budget leeway for energy-related spending.

Italy's Treasury said on Thursday it would issue up to 5 billion euros in short-term and inflation-linked BTP bonds at a May 26 auction.

Saudi Arabia's high-tech NEOM has terminated the contract with the Italian construction company for the Connector High-Speed Line project in Tabuk, Italy's largest construction company said on Thursday.

The automaker on Thursday laid out a 60 billion euro strategy that marks a shift under new CEO Antonio Filosa, combining a wave of new partnerships, a sharper focus on core brands and a push to better monetise excess factory capacity.

(*) The hearing aid maker on Friday said it had completed a capital hike of up to 45,300,000 new ordinary shares via an accelerated bookbuilding (ABB) procedure to finance the cash portion of the acquisition of GN Hearing. It added it had raised 453 million euros, at a price of 10 euros per share and that Ampliter remained the controlling shareholder with 38.69% of the group's capital and just over 70% of voting rights.

The telecoms group concluded on Thursday a transaction to turn a special class of shares carrying higher investor remuneration into ordinary stock, in a long-awaited move that removed a source of extra costs.

The energy group said on Thursday it had signed three long term agreements for the purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG)in Indonesia, supplied by the South Hub and North Hub gas projects it operates in the country.

The yacht maker said on Thursday it had incurred in losses above a threshold established by law, the exact amount of which is still being determined. It added that it had launched a formal procedure to manage the situation and drawn up a recovery plan that includes the potential sale of non-core real estate assets and a possible agreement with tax authorities.
