The Treasury said on Thursday it will sell 10 billion euros  ($11.77 billion) in 12-month BOT bills at an auction on May 12.

TRADE, POLITICS

U.S. President Donald Trump said he spoke with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Thursday, adding that he would give the EU until July 4 to fulfil their side of the trade deal or U.S. tariffs on the bloc would jump to much higher levels.

The automaker said on Friday it would expand its partnership with China's Leapmotor 9863.HK, through manufacturing cooperation in Europe.

     Major auto trade groups on Thursday urged the Trump administration to extend a free trade deal with Mexico and Canada, saying it was crucial for U.S. vehicle production as North America faces competition from Asia and Europe.

The Italian utility on Thursday reported a 3.6% rise in its first-quarter ordinary core profit, adding it was preparing to defend a lucrative power concession in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo against the risk of revocation.

Germany rejects hostile and aggressive takeovers in the banking sector, Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Thursday at an event in Berlin, referring to UniCredit's bid for Germany's Commerzbank CBKG.DE.

(*) Commerzbank said on Friday that it plans to cut 3,000 jobs to help it reach more ambitious profit targets as part of a strategy to fend off the takeover by UniCredit.

TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI

CEO Pietro Labriola said on Thursday it was too early to say whether a cash-and-share takeover bid from state-backed Poste Italiane PST.MI should be raised.

Any commercial tie‑up between Italian telecoms network operators Open Fiber and FiberCop would entitle the former phone monopoly to an additional payment of up to 75% of the benefits accruing to FiberCop from the deal, Labriola also said.

U.S. activist shareholder Guy Wyser-Pratt is demanding an investigation into the general assembly vote on Thursday that elected a new board for the Italian defence group, including government-backed candidates for the CEO and Chair positions, namely Lorenzo Mariani and Francesco Macri.

"Shareholders were given no opportunity to speak, ask questions, or engage with management or the board," Wyser-Pratt said in a statement. "This is not a shareholders' meeting. It is a formality, staged to ratify a predetermined outcome."

The eyewear maker reported on Thursday an adjusted EBITDA margin of 13.6% in the first quarter of 2026, with revenues for 272.9 million euros.

The energy group's board of directors on Thursday confirmed Claudio Descalzi as Chief Executive Officer and appointed Giuseppina Di Foggia as chair.

The group is set to launch the first tranche of new share buyback program covering up to 5.1 million share or 0.2% of share capital.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Libyan counterpart Abdulhamid Dbeibah discussed on Thursday strengthening energy ties at a time when Italy is looking to diversify energy supplies due to the turmoil in the Gulf.

The premium tyremaker on Thursday slightly raised its revenues forecast for this year, saying it managed to contain the impact of the ongoing Middle East crisis through a series of "mitigation actions".

It also said it would present its next business plan in the first half of 2017 and that Italy's recent 'golden power' curbs on Chinese shareholder Sinochem 600579.SS had strengthened the company's independence and ensured U.S. regulation compliance.
