Treasury announces sale of BTP Short and BTPei bonds, with relative amounts to be auctioned on April 24.

COMPANIES

UNICREDIT CRDI.MI

Commerzbank on Monday rejected UniCredit's approach for a takeover, accusing Italy's second-largest lender of "hostile tactics and misleading characterisations."

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also spoke out in similar terms, saying Germany firmly rejects "hostile, aggressive tactics."

Earlier on Monday UniCredit's CEO Andrea Orcel said his bank should be able to avoid triggering German rules on control in its Commerzbank takeover bid and thus prevent a hit to shareholder returns.

(*) Italy's second-biggest lender has agreed with unions on 1,130 voluntary exits and the hiring of 1,085 recent high school and college graduates under 30 on apprenticeship contracts, with the aim of offering them permanent positions, the FABI banking union said on Monday. The bank will make a further 45 hires, reserved for women who have been victims of violence and their children, under a protocol signed with the ABI banking association, FABI said.

Italy's privacy watchdog said on Monday it had fined the Italian postal group and its payments card unit Postepay a total of more than 12.5 million euros ($14.7 million) for illicit processing of the personal data of millions of users

ENI ENI.MI

The Italian energy group said on Monday it was in discussions with Spanish peer Repsol and Venezuela's state-owned PDVSA over terms for potentially exporting gas from the South American country's Cardon IV field.

Antonio Filosa, CEO of the Franco-Italian carmaker, will meet Italy's Industry Minister Adolfo Urso before the presentation of the group's industrial plan on May 21, MF reported.

Jefferies cut its rating on the stock to 'hold' from 'buy' with a target price at 62 euros from previous 68 euros.

FERRETTI YACHT.MI

The two largest shareholders of Ferretti on Monday filed rival slates of candidates for the renewal of the Italian yacht maker's board, setting the stage for a battle at the company's annual meeting on May 14.

The farming group's leading shareholders, Arum and Dompé Holdings, said on Tuesday they would launch a takeover bid for the 50.9% of the company they do not yet own at 5 euros per share. They said the bid was not aimed at delisting the company.
