POLITICS

Italy will send more military aid to Ukraine this year, a senior government official said on Tuesday, adding that continued support for Kyiv could help bring Russia to the negotiating table.

The same government official said, when asked about looming board renewals at state-controlled companies like Eni, Enel ENEI.MI, Leonardo and Poste Italiane PST.MI, that they have all performed "very well" under current management.

The Italian defence group posted on Wednesday 2025 results above its financial targets, with a significant increase in all its key indicators and a substantial reduction in its debt.

Italy's market watchdog Consob has launched preliminary investigations into stock movements of MPS and Mediobanca immediately before and after the announcement of MPS' takeover, newspaper Il Giornale reported on Wednesday, citing financial sources.

MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA

Italy's government will not take part in the selection of a new board despite its 4.9% stake in the bailed‑out lender where CEO Luigi Lovaglio is fighting for reappointment, three sources close to the matter told Reuters on Tuesday.

Italy's largest construction company is conducting due diligence to evaluate a potential takeover of Rizzani De Eccher, a construction group burdened with 1 billion euros in debt, newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore daily reported on Wednesday.

Oil majors running Kazakhstan's Kashagan oilfield, including Eni, have filed an arbitration claim against a 2023 environmental fine worth around $4.6 billion, the consortium said on Tuesday, the latest in a growing web of complex legal disputes in the country's hydrocarbon industry.

SAIPEM SPMI.MI

The Italian energy contractor said on Tuesday it expected its adjusted core earnings to rise to roughly 1.9 billion euros this year, from 1.72 billion euros in 2025.

Italy's fourth-largest bank said on Tuesday it had sold six branches in northern Italy to BCC Iccrea Group, as part of antitrust remedies tied to its merger with Banca Popolare di Sondrio BPSI.MI.

The Italian rocket maker said on Tuesday its shareholders Leonardo, In Orbit and RBC Holding have signed an agreement to govern mutual commitments, including the exercise of voting rights and the joint presentation of slates of candidates for the company's boards.

FERRETTI YACHT.MI

The Italian yacht maker reported a 6.7% rise in its adjusted full-year core profit on Tuesday, along with a nearly 47% jump in orders for made-to-measure yachts. CEO Alberto Galassi told analysts that 2026 would be a year for acquisitions, saying there were "incredible opportunities" in the market.

TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI

Italy's biggest telecoms group on Tuesday said it would launch a share buyback of up to 400 million euros, forecasting a 5-6% rise in core profits this year and reporting 2025 earnings in line with expectations.
