German LNG project HEH at Stade nominates constructors

FRANKFURT, April 18 (Reuters) - A private project to
build a land-based onshore terminal for imports of liquefied
gases at Germany's Elbe river port in Lower Saxony has
identified its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC)
company, it said on Tuesday.
A consortium led by Spanish operator Tecnicas Reunidas was
chosen to provide the infrastructure, in preliminary steps to
accelerate the project, Hanseatic Energy Hub said in a news
release.
A final investment decision for the 1 billion euro ($1.10
billion) project with capacity of 13.3 billion cubic metres of
gas per annum is due in the summer, it said.
HEH intends to help secure Germany's LNG and green gases
supply from 2027 as the country breaks free of imports of fossil
gas from Russia in the past.
HEH will simultaneously prepare for the market ramp-up of
clean hydrogen, alongside three other emerging LNG hubs in
Germany.
It is backed by Belgian gas transport networks group Fluxys
 FLUX.BR , Swiss investment company Partners Group PGHN.S ,
German logistics group Buss and chemicals firm Dow DOW.N .
Further consortium partners are the FCC Group and Entrade
GmbH while ENKA, a subsidiary of the Turkish ENKA Group which is
already active near Stade, will provide the electromechanical
assembly.
The hub would be equipped to import LNG as well as bio-LNG
and synthetic natural gas and designed in such a way to enable
conversion to ammonia as a hydrogen-based energy source.
Stade lies inland, 45km west of Hamburg in Lower Saxony
state.
German state-controlled importer Sefe in January secured 4
bcm of potential annual LNG handling capacity at Stade from 2027
and utility EnBW EBKG.DE has also committed itself as a major
future buyer.
