Miners Fresnillo, Hochschild gain after quarterly production reports

Corrects instrument code for FTSE 100 in second bullet point

** Precious metals miner Fresnillo FRES.L and Hochschild Mining HOCM.L up after quarterly production reports

** FRES up 2.7% at 3,688p, top gainer on FTSE 100 .FTSE index and HOCM up 2.4% at 673p

** FRES's Q1 attributable silver production fell 6.5%, and attributable gold production fell 12.8%, with both declines smaller than JPMorgan had expected

** HOCM posts gold production of 55,252 ounces, which is 13% above JP Morgan's estimates

** Both miners kept their 2026 production guidance unchanged

** London-listed miners sub-index .FTNMX551020 also up 1.6% following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of an indefinite ceasefire with Iran

** FRES up ~11%, HOCM up ~31% YTD
