(Adds detail on alleged discrimination in paragraphs 2-3, Globe
Life's statement in paragraph 4)
Sept 27 (Reuters) - Insurer Globe Life GL.N said on
Friday that it might face a lawsuit from the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC) over alleged discrimination
against some of its sales agents.
The EEOC had said there was "reasonable cause" to believe
that Globe Life discriminated against six sales agents on the
basis of sex, according to a regulatory filing from the insurer.
It has also alleged that one of the company's agents was
discriminated against on the basis of race, the filing showed.
"In the event the EEOC elects to pursue any claims in
court, the company intends to defend against any such lawsuit
vigorously," Globe Life said, adding that it had policies in
place that prohibit discrimination.
