India's Godrej Consumer Products misses quarterly profit view as costs weigh Oct 29 (Reuters) - India's Godrej Consumer Products GOCP.NS posted a second-quarter profit rise on Thursday that marginally missed estimates, as elevated commodity-linked input costs weighed on earnings despite strong growth across markets.
The company retained its fiscal 2027 guidance of high-single-digit underlying volume growth in the standalone business and double-digit revenue and EBITDA growth at the consolidated level.
Here are some details:
Consolidated net profit rose almost 14% to 5.23 billion rupees ($54.88 million) for the quarter ended September 30 compared with 4.59 billion rupees a year ago
Analysts on average expected the company to report a profit of 5.39 billion rupees, according to data compiled by LSEG
Godrej Consumer Products' total expenses rose 20.6% to 37.58 billion rupees, driven by an 8.5% and 61.3% rise in raw material costs and costs related to purchase of finished inventory, respectively.
The company said input cost environment remained significantly challenging during the quarter, with inflation intensifying across crude-linked derivatives, palm oil and other commodity inputs
Revenue from the sale of products rose 19.3% to 43.96 billion rupees
Managing Director and CEO Aasif Malbari said the quarter saw strong, broad-based performance across India, Indonesia and Africa
