Australia's Metal Bank hits near 1-year high on buying gold assets

** Shares of Metal Bank MBK.AX rise 46.7% to A$0.022, hitting their highest level since early October 2024

** Stock on track for strongest trading session since mid-February 2021, if current gains hold

** Mineral explorer signs binding sale and purchase agreement with Hastings Technology Metals HAS.AX to buy Hastings' gold assets for A$2.3 million ($1.51 million)

** Hastings shares down 3.1% at A$0.31

** More than 11.7 million MBK shares change hands, 18.4 times the 30-day average

** MBK stock up 53.4% YTD, including the day's moves
