Haydale and PETRONAS Collaborate to Accelerate Graphene's Commercial
Applications
Haydale (AIM: HAYD) and PETRONAS Technology Ventures Sdn Bhd (PTVSB), the
technology commercialisation arm of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), have
executed a collaboration agreement to functionalise graphene for product
applications, in an effort to accelerate commercialisation of graphene-based
formulations in various different industries.
The agreement, which runs through to 31 December 2025, will see the parties
exploring graphene for further commercial applications in battery cells,
composites, coatings and thermal materials, among others. The collaboration
will also cover knowledge sharing between the parties.
Commenting on the successful collaboration with PETRONAS, Haydale Chief
Executive Officer Keith Broadbent said:
"Haydale is delighted to have signed a collaboration with PETRONAS that
cements our commitment to working together on developing innovative solutions
and driving progress in the commercialisation of graphene and advanced
materials use in the energy industry. Our expertise in nanomaterials and our
functionalisation technology compliments PETRONAS' commitment to
sustainability and safeguarding the environment and I am confident that this
strategic collaboration will be mutually beneficial and greatly accelerate the
commercial adoption of functionalised graphene and other 2D materials."
PETRONAS Head of Advanced Materials Dileezaa Lurthanathan, said:
"PETRONAS is dedicated to research and development in advanced materials and
our collaboration with Haydale marks a significant milestone in the drive
towards the commercialisation of graphene in sustainable technologies. We see
Haydale's functionalisation process as one of the keys to unlocking the use of
by-products from the energy industry and helping us to move from linear to
circular materials to facilitate energy transition."
