The following factors could affect Italian markets on Monday.

    ECONOMY
    The moment is "fast approaching" for the European Central
Bank (ECB) to cut interest rates, and timely and gradual steps
could help to reduce ensuing volatility on financial markets and
in the economy, a top policymaker said on Saturday.
    
    COMPANIES
    
    TOD'S  TOD.MI 
    The founding family of Italian luxury shoemaker Tod's is
trying to take the company private for the second time in less
then two years, this time with the help of L Catterton, a
private equity firm backed by France's LVMH  LVMH.PA .
    
    SARAS  SRS.MI  
    Italy's Moratti family has agreed to sell 35% of oil refiner
Saras to global commodity trader Vitol at 1.75 euros per share,
valuing the entire group 1.7 billion euros, it said in a
statement on Sunday.
    
    BANKS
    Banks could use part of last year's bumper profits to
strengthen their capital buffers and halt a declining trend
observed, in absolute terms, in recent years, the Bank of Italy
governor said on Saturday.
    
    BPER BANCA  EMII.MI , MPS  BMPS.MI , POPOLARE SONDRIO
 BPSI.MI , UNIPOL  UNPI.MI 
    BPER Banca and Unipol could set their sight not only on
Popolare di Sondrio, but also on Monte dei Paschi, Il Messaggero
reported on Sunday without providing details and adding the M6A
activity in the banking sector could re-start in June.
    
    TERNA  TRN.MI 
    The Italian state-controlled electricity grid operator is
mulling a bid for high-voltage assets worth as much as 1.5
billion euros, mostly owned by Enel  ENEI.MI  and Acea  ACE.MI ,
Bloomberg reported on Friday.   
    
    ENEL  ENEI.MI  
    Brazil's electricity regulator Aneel fined utility provider
Enel's Sao Paulo unit 165.8 million reais ($33.39 million) for a
blackout in November, which affected millions of customers,
according to a notice of infringement made public on Friday. 
    
    HERA  HRA.MI 
    Hera's net electricity customers will increase by 1.3
million following the result of an auction for the
liberalisation of the Italian market, Hera's chairman told
Corriere della Sera on Sunday. The company will offer these new
clients also natural gas and energy transition services, he
said, adding Hera would invest 2 billion euros on its networks
according to its business plan to 2027.
