ECONOMY

Bank of Italy releases November data on foreign investors holdings of Italian government bonds.

COMPANIES

MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA BMPS.MI

Italy's Treasury is in favour of reappointing Luigi Lovaglio as chief executive of the Tuscan bank, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday.

MPS shareholder Caltagirone Group said in a statement it did not want to express a view on the board renewal so as not to influence directors, and would wait for any consultation with shareholders ahead of the extraordinary meeting on February 4.

BANCO BPM BAMI.MI

The board of directors is expected to meet on Tuesday to review draft amendments to the bylaws and begin the process of submitting its slate for the next board renewal.

Italy's state-owned bad loan manager AMCO and major Italian banks will invest in a new fund, Fondo Alternativo (FIA), designed to rescue the Oaktree-owned Banca Progetto by acquiring its bad loans, Radiocor news agency reported on Monday.

Investment fund Mercury UK Holdco has reduced its stake in the payments group to 0.011% from the previous 3.01%, according to a Consob filing.

Investment banks are exploring a potential integration of PosteMobile into TIM through a capital increase by the telecoms group reserved for Poste Italiane, the Corriere della Sera daily reported on Tuesday.

Fincantieri has little appetite for a merger with Leonardo, la Repubblica daily wrote on Tuesday, a day after the chair of Leonardo, Stefano Pentecorvo, floated the idea of a future combination between the two state-controlled groups.

Valentino Garavani, a giant of the Italian fashion industry known globally simply as Valentino, died on Monday aged 93, his foundation said.

The Italian multi‑utility firm said on Monday it had agreed to acquire water treatment group Sostelia in a worth 138 million euros including debt, boosting its position in the treatment of industrial and civil water.
