Japan's Idemitsu Kosan shuts Hokkaido CDU for scheduled maintenance

TOKYO, June 30 (Reuters) - Japanese oil refiner Idemitsu Kosan 5019.T shut a 140,000 barrels-per-day crude distillation unit at its Hokkaido refinery in northern Japan on June 24 for scheduled maintenance, a company spokesperson said on Tuesday.
The spokesperson declined to say when the unit is expected to resume operations.
Idemitsu also carried out scheduled maintenance on a 200,000-bpd CDU at its Chiba refinery, near Tokyo, from May 23 to June 20, the spokesperson said.
Effective April 1, Idemitsu increased the processing capacity of its Chiba CDU by 5,000 bpd to 200,000 bpd, while cutting capacity at Aichi by 2,000 bpd to 163,000 bpd, at Keihin by 10,000 bpd to 60,000 bpd and at Yokkaichi by 30,000 bpd to 225,000 bpd, bringing its total CDU capacity down by 37,000 bpd to 931,000 bpd.
Previously, on September 16, 2024, Idemitsu lowered the processing capacity of its Hokkaido CDU by 10,000 bpd to 140,000 bpd, while boosting capacity at the Chiba and Aichi CDUs by 5,000 bpd to 195,000 bpd and 165,000 bpd, respectively.
