SYDNEY/MELBOURNE, May 15 (Reuters) - Some workers at Woodside Energy's WDS.AX Karratha gas plant and Pluto liquefied natural gas facilities in Western Australia will begin strike action from Wednesday, the Offshore Alliance workers union said in a Facebook post on Friday.

Offshore Alliance, a grouping of the Australian Workers Union and the Maritime Union of Australia, said it had informed contractor UGL on Tuesday it planned to take Protected Industrial Action (PIA) from next week in a disagreement over wages and conditions.

It alleged the contractor was using third party workers in an effort to drive down wages.

The union group has organised prior strike votes at Woodside’s Pluto 2 facility against contractor Bechtel.

Separately, the Offshore Alliance said on Wednesday talks with Inpex 1605.T, moderated by the Fair Work Commission, had failed to resolve issues, and members had voted to serve a strike notice at the 8.9-million-metric-tons-a-year Ichthys LNG facility in Darwin at the end of negotiations on Friday.
