MOSCOW, May 4 (Reuters) - KazMunayGaz (KMG), Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company, said on Monday it had discussed oil supplies to Japan and potential Japanese participation in KMG's oil and gas exploration projects during talks with a delegation from Tokyo.
Japan is seeking alternative oil supplies after the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran largely cut off imports from the Gulf, its main source before the conflict erupted in late February.
Japanese refiner Taiyo Oil is due to receive a cargo of crude from Russia's Sakhalin-2 project this week.
Japan's Inpex 1605.T is part of an international consortium developing Kazakhstan's giant Kashagan oilfield.
