Poland - Factors to Watch June 15

- The following are significant news stories, press reports and events on Monday. ALL TIMES GMT (Poland: GMT + 2 hours):

DATA

Poland's statistics office will publish the final May CPI data at 0730.

U.S. MILITARY PRESENCE

Poland's strategic goal is to have a permanent U.S. military presence in the country, President Karol Nawrocki was quoted as saying by state news agency PAP during a trip to Washington to celebrate the 80th birthday of President Donald Trump. Nawrocki attended a UFC gala in the grounds of the White House commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and held on Trump's birthday.

RUSSIAN STRIKES ON UKRAINE

Poland scrambled figher jets overnight due to Russian strikes on Ukraine, the Polish army said. No violations of Polish airspace were recorded.

JSW JSW.WA

Mining company JSW JSW.WA began paying its first severance payments at the end of May to employees who voluntarily leave the company, Rzeczpospolita daily reported. So far, 526 people have received 170,000 zlotys ($46,604.71) net each. By the end of the year, 1,156 employees of the company are expected to leave with benefits, not only miners but also administrative, human resources, and security staff.

ZELENSKIY

It is more likely a matter of days rather than weeks before Polish President Karol Nawrocki takes the decision to strip his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Poland's highest honour, Rzeczpospolita reported, citing sources. Poland has been weighing whether to strip Zelenskiy of its top honour for renaming an army unit after Ukrainian nationalist insurgents who massacred Poles in World War Two.

PGZ

Polish defence company PGZ will announce the formation of a new joint venture with France's Eurenco producing propellant charges, Rzeczpospolita daily reported.

CRYPTOCURRENCIES

Poland's government will try for a fourth time to pass its bill regulating the market in crypto-assets after a third presidential veto last week, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily reported.
