** Shares of battery maker Li-S Energy LIS.AX rise 50.5% to A$0.140, their highest level since March 25

** Stock on track for best day since October 28 if gains hold

   ** Co signs agreement to supply battery cells to an unnamed defence technology firm, which the latter will test for functionality and safety in defence applications

** Co did not reveal any financial details of the deal

** About 3.6 million shares change hands, 11.6x the 30-day average of 305,657; busiest session since November 11

** Stock up 3.7% YTD, including moves in the current session
