Italy is delaying a decision on whether Sinochem, Pirelli's largest investor, breached rules designed to limit China's influence over the Italian tyremaker, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday citing a document.
The Italian government is seeking clarity from the United States amid concerns that Washington could impose domestic restrictions on Pirelli due to the tyremaker's Chinese investor, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The group holds its annual general meeting at 0900 GMT.

European planemaker Airbus AIR.PA awarded the Italian defence and aerospace company the production of the rear fuselage section for its A220 aircraft, for which Leonardo already produces horizontal and vertical stabilisers, Valerio Moro, the new CEO of Airbus Italy, was quoted as saying by two newspapers on Thursday. The segment should be manufactured in Leonardo's Nola and Pomigliano d'Arco plants and the completion of the first unit is scheduled for 2027, the manager added.
CEO Roberto Cingolani flew to Abu Dhabi in recent days to sign a preliminary agreement with defence group Edge, the details of which will be finalised in the coming months, wrote Il Sole 24 Ore on Thursday.

Rating firm S&P raised on Wednesday its long-term rating on the cement group to 'BBB+' from 'BBB' and confirmed the short-term rating 'A-2' with a stable outlook.

The Italian engineering group said on Thursday it had completed the placement of around 5 million ordinary shares, or 1.5% of the share capital, coming from the group's long-term incentive plans, through an accelerated bookbuilding at a price of 10.25 euros per share.
