Marsh McLennan expands in Nashville with Robins Insurance purchase

By Ashish Tiwari

Sept 2 - (The Insurer) – Marsh McLennan Agency said on Tuesday it had acquired Nashville-based Robins Insurance, which specializes in business insurance and personal lines.

Terms of the deal, part of a broader consolidation trend in the brokerage sector, were not disclosed. Last month, MMA acquired Olympic Insurance Agency in California, continuing its expansion of the U.S. regional network via mergers and acquisitions.

Founded in 1976, Robins has expertise in real estate, construction, hospitality, community associations and manufacturing.

All Robins employees, including chief executive Van Robins, would remain at its Nashville office, MMA said in a statement.

Peter Krause, president and CEO of MMA’s Southeast region, said the acquisition broadens MMA’s reach in the rapidly growing Nashville market.

Robins said: “Today’s risk landscape continues to evolve, and it requires a unique perspective to truly protect clients from the unexpected. We’re excited to tap into the vast network of MMA’s resources to bring superior solutions to clients in our footprint.”

Last year, Marsh alone invested $9.4 billion in acquisitions, including the $7.75 billion purchase of McGriff Insurance Services, marking its largest year of acquisition activity.

Competitors have also pursued significant deals, with Aon acquiring NFP for approximately $13.4 billion and Arthur J Gallagher announcing a $13.45 billion purchase of AssuredPartners.
