Poland's central bank said on Tuesday that banks could
challenge a plan to make them foot the bill for fixing the
country's Swiss franc mortgage problem and their owners may

The Finance Stability Committee that gathers representatives
of the central bank, finance ministry and regulator KNF will
discuss on Wednesday the Swiss franc denominated mortgages
issue, according to Rzeczpospolita daily.
Raiffeisen International said on Wednesday its Swiss franc
loan exposure in Poland at June-end amounted to 3.21 billion

REAL ESTATE
As of September, more families will be eligible to get
cheaper mortgages for their first apartment under a
government-sponsored programme "Flats for the young", Gazeta
Wyborcza daily reported.
ELECTION POLL
Ahead of an October parliamentary election, a conservative
coalition led by the largest opposition party Law and Justice
(PiS) leads in a TNS OBOP poll with 41 percent, with the ruling
Civic Platform (PO) party on 22 percent.

Italian's ENI plans to sell its petrol station chain in
Hungary. Interested parties include local refiner MOL and Polish
PKN Orlen, Rzeczpospolita reported.

Poland's treasury said on Tuesday it would continue talks
with a potential investor for flagship airline LOT LOT.UL
despite the resignation of the carrier's chief executive.

DROUGHT
Farmers demand the government declare a state of natural
disaster due to drought as this would allow them to get state
financial support, Gazeta Wyborcza daily reported.
Deputy Prime Minister Janusz Piechocinski told TVN24 private
broadcaster that he is against the idea, as it would delay the
parliamentary election scheduled for October by six months.
