EU antitrust regulators set November 30 deadline for probe into MMG's Anglo American deal
EU antitrust regulators set November 30 deadline for probe into MMG's Anglo American deal BRUSSELS, Aug 14 (Reuters) - The European Commission has resumed a probe into Hong Kong-listed mining and metals company MMG's 1208.HK plan to buy Anglo American's Brazilian nickel business and has set a new decision deadline of November 30 for this, according to an update posted on the Commission website on Friday.
EU antitrust regulators had paused the investigation in November, with a Commission spokesperson saying at the time that the "clock" in merger inquiries can be suspended if parties to fail to provide important information in a timely fashion.
The European Commission had warned that the deal could allow MMG to divert ferronickel from Europe and hurt European stainless steel production.
