Media: Czech finance minister not planning bank sector tax, coalition to debate - Hospodarske Noviny

PRAGUE, May 22 (Reuters) - 
  
    
    ** Czech Finance Minister Zbynek Stanjura says the
government will look at "acceptable" ways for banks profiting
from high interest rates to support public finances but that he
was not planning a sector tax, although the coalition will
debate the idea.
    
    ** "We will debate it, just as we debated (other) ideas for
the consolidation package. Discussions are yet to begin," he
says in an interview with financial daily Hospodarske Noviny on
Wednesday.
    
    ** Stanjura also says on the state's windfall tax that if
extraordinary revenues in 2023 and 2024 are the same as
extraordinary state expenditure, then he thinks it is time to
cancel the tool, adding the step must be debated in the
coalition.
