CREDIT AGRICOLE CAGR.PA:
Italian bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena BMPS.MI on Thursday approved plans to bid for rival Banco BPM BAMI.MI and wealth manager Banca Generali BGN.MI to counter a €36 billion ($42 billion) takeover from sector leader Intesa Sanpaolo ISP.MI, two people close to the matter said.

French President Emmanuel Macron will host Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on August 23 and August 24, with the two leaders expected to discuss current tensions in the Middle East, Macron's office said on Thursday.
