April 28 (Reuters) - Motherson Sumi Wiring India MSWI.NS reported a rise in fourth-quarter profit on Tuesday, helped by higher passenger vehicle sales volumes, which boosted demand for wiring harnesses.
The company, which sells wiring harnesses to several major carmakers, said passenger vehicle industry volumes grew by 11% during the quarter.
Here are some more details:
Net profit rose 1.2% to 1.67 billion rupees ($17.66 million) for the quarter ended March 31, from 1.65 billion rupees a year ago.
Total revenue grew 32.8% to 33.35 billion rupees.
However, higher copper prices pressured the firm's margins, highlighting the impact of volatile input costs on auto component makers despite strong demand.
Total expenses rose 36.3% to 31.24 billion rupees.
The firm has been expanding production capacity to support rising wiring demand for both electric and gas-powered vehicles.
