Nov 15 (Reuters) - Billionaire Mike Ashley-owned Frasers
Group FRAS.L is set to appoint Jon Thompson, the former head
of Britain's audit watchdog, as its chairman in 2025, Sky News
reported on Friday.
Thompson, who joined the board of the British sportswear and
apparel retailer earlier this year as a non-executive director,
is expected to take over the role from David Daly, the report
said citing sources.
While his appointment as chairman is yet to be finalised by
the board, it is almost certain to take place, the report said.
Frasers did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for
comment.
It holds significant stakes in several listed companies,
including a 27% stake in online fashion retailer Boohoo
BOOH.L .
Ashley is engaged in a public dispute with Boohoo, after
calling for the Debenhams owner to appoint him to its board — a
request that the company has rejected, potentially paving the
way for a prolonged battle.
