Apple, other customers of Japan's Murata face possible hit on temporary plant closure

** Japanese electric components maker Murata Manufacturing
 6981.T , which makes key components used in smartphones,
computers and cars, will temporarily close a plant in Fukui,
Japan due to a COVID-19 outbreak
    ** Murata counts companies including smartphone and
electronic device makers Apple Inc  AAPL.O , South Korea's
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd  005930.KS  as customers
    ** It also is supplier to Chinese desktop computer maker
Lenovo Group Ltd  0992.HK  and Taiwan's Acer Inc  2353.TW  
    ** Auto makers including Ford Motor Co  F.N  and General
Motors  GM.N  are also customers
    ** Murata, which makes multilayer ceramic capacitors at the
plant, is the biggest supplier of the component  urn:newsml:reuters.com:*:nL1N2PX0D1
    ** Plant to remain closed until Aug. 31 after 98 of its
7,000 workers tested positive for the virus
    ** "If the plant is closed for an extended period of time,
that could put further strain on an already challenged supply

    ** Shares of AAPL, F and GM down marginally premarket
