Video game group Nacon files for insolvency

Feb 25 (Reuters) - French video game company Nacon NACON.PA filed for insolvency on Wednesday, saying its available assets did not allow it to meet its due liabilities.

The filing came days after Nacon's largest shareholder Bigben Interactive BGBN.PA said it could not repay its bondholders due to an unexpected and late refusal by its banking pool.

KEY DETAILS

* Nacon will file for insolvency and request the opening of judicial reorganisation proceedings.

* The aim of the procedure is to assess all possible solutions while renegotiating with the company's creditors.

* The court will rule on the request at a hearing expected in early March, Nacon said.

* Nacon's shares will remain suspended from trading, pending a court decision.

* The video game group's titles include The World Rally Championship and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

* French peer Ubisoft UBIP.PA has also been grappling with financial issues, and it announced sweeping organisational restructuring in January.
