National Bank expects $47 million loss on some commercial loans
National Bank expects $47 million loss on some commercial loans Oct 1 (Reuters) - US regional lender National Bank Holdings NBHC.N said on Thursday it expects to take a $46.8 million loss on certain commercial loans in the third quarter due to some credit events.
Here are some other details:
The loans, totalling $65 million, are primarily within the franchise and healthcare industries, the lender said.
Management is assessing the remaining collateral and will write down the loans.
The bank expects between $38 million and $40 million of provision expense for the three months ended September 30, 2026, due to write-downs and specific reserves on the loans.
National Bank also expects a $4 million hit related to one of its fintech partnership investments.
Denver, Colorado-based National Bank operates a network of over 90 banking centers and had roughly $12.6 billion in assets as of June 30.
Overall, the impairments are expected to hit National Bank's after-tax earnings by roughly $32 million to $34 million for the quarter.
Separately, National Bank said it is boosting its stock repurchase authorization to roughly $100 million from about $60 million.
