Australia's Neurizon jumps on potential for neurodegenerative drug approval

** Shares of Neurizon Therapeutics NUZ.AX rise as much as 14.3% to A$0.096, their highest level since March 13
** Biotech co says the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) affirms the potential of a traditional approval pathway for its drug NUZ-001, given substantial evidence of effectiveness in its ongoing trial
** NUZ-001 is Neurizon's treatment for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) - a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disease which destroys the nerve cells that control voluntary muscle movement
** FDA advises Neurizon to resubmit Fast Track Designation (FTD) with current data
** About 1.1 mln shares change hands, 2 times the 30-day average
** Stock up 4.7% YTD, including the day's move
