Renaissance Partners to buy yacht interiors maker De Wave (updated)

UPDATE 1-Renaissance Partners to buy yacht interiors maker De Wave

Recasts with statement from Renaissance Partners

- Italian private equity firm Renaissance Partners said it had agreed to buy De Wave Group, a Genoa-based maker of interiors for yachts and cruise ships, from Californian investment firm Platinum Equity.

Reuters reported the deal earlier on Tuesday, with a source close to the matter putting the value of the transaction at around €400 million ($465 million).

Platinum Equity, which was founded in Beverly Hills by U.S. billionaire Tom Gores, the current owner of NBA team Detroit Pistons, acquired De Wave in 2019.

Platinum grew De Wave through acquisitions, buying Tecnavi, FCR Finland and Mobil-Line in 2022, according to the U.S. firm's website.

With 1,400 staff globally, De Wave makes maritime interiors including cabins, bathroom units and onboard catering systems. It serves shipyard and cruise operators and also provides refitting services.

Founded in 2014, De Wave generated revenue of €400 million in 2025.

De Wave's management is expected to reinvest proceeds from the transaction into the company.

Renaissance Partners worked with J.P. Morgan as financial adviser, while Fineurop Soditic acted as both financial and debt advisers.
