Dec 17 (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida
plans to make a trip to the United States to meet President Joe
Biden as early as January, the Nikkei newspaper reported on
Friday.
The Japanese government was unable to secure Kishida's first
visit in office to Washington this year and will now explore
opportunities in January or beyond, the newspaper reported https://asia.nikkei.com/Politics/Kishida-maiden-visit-to-U.S.-to-be-delayed-to-2022.
Japan's public broadcaster NHK had said earlier this month
Kishida was likely to cancel a planned trip to the U.S. this
month due to the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
