March 26 (Reuters) - Australia's Nickel Industries NIC.AX said on Thursday it has suspended operations at its Hengjaya Mine in Indonesia after an accident earlier this week resulted in a fatality.
The nickel producer said on Wednesday that the incident occurred on the mine's haul road and involved a contractor working on the construction of transmission lines at the project.
Operations at the site have been halted, and Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is expected to begin an investigation on Friday, the company said.
Nickel Industries holds an 80% stake in PT Hengjaya Mineralindo, an Indonesian firm that owns 100% of the Hengjaya Mine.
