Video Transcript:

Nintendo posted a 23% jump in quarterly profit on Tuesday. The Japanese gaming giant booked operating profit of $995 million in part thanks to strong sales of its Switch 2 console. It also forecasts the annual figure to come in at around $2.4 billion, up a third over the previous financial year. The Super Mario maker also held its annual earnings and hardware forecasts. It predicts sales of its Switch 2 console to hit 19 million this year. Nintendo sold 17.4 million units of the device in the nine months to late December. The firm launched the Switch 2 midway through last year, and investors have debated since whether strong early sales would hold up. Nintendo further said a surge in memory chip prices hasn't had a major impact on earnings in the current financial year. But it warned if the spike continues beyond expectations and persists over the long term, it could pressure profitability. Manufacturers of electronic hardware face sharply rising prices for memory chips, thus due to a boom in AI investment.
