Nintendo is boasting strong early demand of its Switch 2. It sold about 6 million units in the seven weeks following its June launch, the gaming company said in an earnings update on Friday. That launch was a test of Nintendo's supply chain management, coming in the midst of US President Donald Trump's trade war. One analyst said the sales volume shows the pent-up demand for an update of the company's home-portable hit Switch. The Kyoto-based gaming firm said it will keep its sales forecast at 15 million Switch 2 units for the financial year. It also reported an operating profit growth of 4% in the April to June quarter, beating analysts' estimates. US tariffs and other market environment changes had no significant impact on its current earnings forecast, it added. The Switch 2 was launched on June 5 with titles including "Mario Kart World" and an upgraded "The Legend of Zelda" series. Offering better graphics and a larger screen, it quickly became the company's fastest-selling gaming device, with 3.5 million units snatched up in the first four days. On Friday, Nintendo's shares closed down 0.75% ahead of earnings. They've gained roughly a third this year.
