China's BYD launched EV mini-car in Japan TOKYO, July 28 (Reuters) - China's BYD 002594.SZ launched an electric mini-car in Japan on Tuesday, pinning its hopes on its Racco model to revive sales in a market where it has struggled to gain traction since entering the passenger-car segment in 2023.
The Shenzhen-based automaker said the Racco's suggested retail pricing would start at 1.95 million yen ($11,900) before taxes and subsidies, undercutting Nissan's 7201.T Sakura, Japan's best-selling electric mini-car.
($1 = 163.7500 yen)
