    * Says it offers a takeover bid for up to 2.5 million shares 
of Riken Corundum Co Ltd  5395.T , at the price of 229 yen per 
share 
    * Offering period from Aug. 8 to Sept. 5 
    * Settlement date on Sept. 11 
    * Say the company will increase stake in Riken Corundum to 
60 percent from 32.9 percent
