Orla Mining says Mexico blockade to be lifted after labour ruling

- Canadian miner Orla Mining OLA.TO said on Thursday a worker blockade that has halted operations at its Mexican mine since June 1 is expected to be lifted later in the day after federal labour authorities ruled the stoppage illegal.

After Wednesday's meeting with the Sindicato de Beneficio de Minas union and Mexico's labour department, Orla said the authority determined the blockade at Camino Rojo gold mine falls outside the collective bargaining framework under Mexican labour regulation.

U.S.-listed shares of Orla ORLA.N were up 1.8% in premarket trade.

"Should the illegal blockade not be lifted in contravention of the agreement established, Orla Mining will pursue additional steps to resume operations in coordination with labour authorities," the company said in a statement.

Orla added it remains committed to resuming negotiations over worker productivity bonuses once normal operations at the mine are restored.

The mine located in Zacatecas state produced 96,764 ounces of gold in 2025.
